Before Summer 2016, Romain Jerome Watches teased us about a new watch featuring the famous Pikachu from the Pokémon stable of characters. Read about it in the AlphaLuxe article — Review: Romain Jerome brings Colours, Tetris™, Pac-Man™ and Pikachu to your Life and Wrist – Is this Luxury?
No images of the “Pikachu Watch” were revealed then.
Here is the update:
To celebrate 20 years of Pokémon, RJ-Romain Jerome collaborated with The Pokémon Company International to issue a 20-piece limited edition of timepieces that feature Pikachu. Moving forward in time in their DNA watch collection (that celebrates pop culture) with their first icon of the 21st century, Romain Jerome pays tribute to a social phenomenon of the last two decades.
“Pika! Pika!” 🙂
Pikachu is the most famous Pokémon character and the adorable pocket monster is prominent on the dial. The insanely cute Pikachu and trademark lightning bolt appliques are hand-painted in yellow cold enamel. The vulcanized rubber strap matches Pikachu’s signature yellow colour.
The eye-catching dial is housed in a 46 mm Moon Invader-style titanium case that is black DLC-coated (diamond-like carbon) with engraved lightning pattern that is either sand-blasted or satin-brushed to create depth.
With articulated lugs, the integrated ball-and-socket joints allow a better wrist adjustment. The signature grainy-textured stellar-pattern on the case back is repeated on the strap.
Each piece is identified by the serial number engraved on a circular-brushed steel Pokémon medallion.
The watch is released at a selection of 20 official retailers for a unique price of 20,000 currency units in CHF, EUR, USD or GBP. Not everybody can afford the luxury of choice for a fun watch.
There are only 20 pieces…..
