Saks Fifth Avenue Brookfield Place
New York’s Newest Fashion Wonderland
The resurgence of downtown activity is evident in a neighborhood welcome addition, just south of TriBeCa and steps away from the Freedom Tower, where the shopping Mecca, Brookfield Place now resides. The complex, officially addressed at 230 Vesey Street is home to luxury retailers like Hermes, Ermenegildo Zegna and Burberry, while housing a food court that will satisfy the most finicky eater (hello?! Skinny Pizza AND Sprinkles Cupcakes!) making for a decadent indoor shopping and dining experience.
The most impressive and welcome addition, is the mother ship, Saks Fifth Avenue, my most favorite shopping destination of all time.
While I’ve happily spent a great deal of time in Saks Fifth Avenue on 5th Avenue, I could not help but be more than a little curious to check out this newbie store. Would it meet my expectations? Umm, to say exceeded them is the understatement of the century.
The ground floor decor is light, open, and airy with white walls and lots of windows, all of which are not easy to find in my concrete jungle of architecture, while beautiful can at times feel a little dark and claustrophobic. Upon entry, you will find luxury cosmetic brands including Chanel and Sisley. Take a turn around the corner and you will find yourself in an apothecary of skin care wonderland where finds from Mario Bedescu, Patchology and Rodial will meet any and all of your skin care needs. To boot, the employees are knowledgeable and, uber friendly. They are also all gorgeous. Seriously, every person looks like they are in an advertisement. It’s sensory heaven.
As you pass the apothecary you will find handbags and ready to wear and accessories (oh my!). Surrounded by some of the most clever visual merchandising I’ve ever seen. Think large candy sculptures, and fiercely dressed mannequins.
The escalator will take you to the second floor where you will find a shoe department that is everything. Shoes from Gucci to Alexander McQueens most sought after styles displayed on point in a beautiful open shoe gallery of fun.
To say you must check out this gallery of fashion awesomeness is an understatement. If you’re visiting New York, it’s worth adding to your itinerary and if you’re from New York, go there now!
