Spring Chocolate Decadence — Easter Eggs in New York City

Angela Ranieri

Spring is Here

The Spring Season brings an energy and feeling of renewal to many, and I think it’s evident not only in the budding trees and flowers, but also in the awakened mood of everyone I see. Because of that, I look forward to Spring, every Winter season.

Like Pavlov’s dogs, I begin to think of chocolate and candy that are reminiscent of my childhood Easter basket. While you can still find main stream jelly beans and chocolate covered butter cream, over the years, chocolate, like most everything else, has advanced to meet the palette of the most demanding connoisseur.

2017 Easter Chocolate season does not disappoint

L’atelier du Chocolat

L’atelier du Chocolat, founded by Master Chocolatier Eric Girard gives chocolate a couture, modern edge. He was, after all, given the honor of 2014-2015 Top-10 Chocolatier in North America.

L’atelier du Chocolat Le Vert Collection

Should you seek to satisfy a sophisticated palette, the 2017 LeVert Collection, available in 6 or 9 pieces ($24 or $36 respectively), will make the perfect gift. The collection includes the “Tao” (dark chocolate with jasmine), “Destin” (dark chocolate with sake and mandarin) and “La Musique” (raspberry white miso chocolate). Such sophistication is available at L’atelier du Chocolat.

Vosgues Haut Chocolat

Perhaps you are looking for chocolate with a more “Easter” decor. Vosgues Haut Chocolat, who brought the “Vosgues experience” of downtown (The SOHO Boutique original location still on Spring Street), cutting edge, upmarket chocolate uptown, has you covered.

Vosgues Haut Chocolat Ensemble Printemps Extraodinaire

The exquisite “Ensemble Printemps Extraodinaire” priced at $99, is an impressive presentation of chocolate including chocolate eggs, ginger toffee and hazelnut in design, reminiscent of Easter eggs, bunnies and toadstools.

Vosgues Haut Chocolat Les Fleurs du Chocolate

The “Les Fleurs du Chocolate” is a 16-piece chocolate truffle floral masterpiece of violets, marigolds and orchids for $45.

These and others, are available at Vosges Haut Chocolat

Neuhaus Chocolate

Neuhaus Chocolate of Brussels since 1857,  with locations and shipping options worldwide, offers more mainstream designs to suit the young or young-at-heart in your life this Easter season.

Neuhaus Chocolate Easter Cello Box

The “Easter Cello Box,” with 11 eggs that are a mix of dark, milk and white chocolate, are sure to be a homer in gift from the Easter Bunny ($19).

Mr. Chocolate

Last and certainly not least, and my personal “go-to” for chocolate merriment, is Mr. Chocolate himself, Jacques Torres. The Le Cirque alum opened his first chocolate location in Brooklyn in 2000 and has successfully developed more locations around New York City, including Midtown and The Upper West Side.

Jacques Torres Chocolate Hen

His 4.5 inch tall Hen is available in dark or milk chocolate and people of all ages will appreciate the attention to detail ($14).

The “Speckled White Chocolate Robin’s Eggs” ($11) are one dozen white chocolate eggs filled with peanut butter. These and others, are available at Mr. Chocolate

AlphaLuxe Tip: Treat yourself and your loved ones to some Spring decadence.

We survived the Winter and earned it!
